Prairie Crossing homes aren’t the only award-winners you’ll find in Redmond. Whether you’re commuting from work or just strolling around the city, there’s something beautiful to be seen when you take your time and look around. Redmond Public Art captures the heart and soul of this thriving Central Oregon city.
“Art has the power to transform, to illuminate, to educate, inspire, and motivate.” – Harvey Fierstein
Prairie Crossing is all about community. And nothing says community more than public art that tells a story about the place we call home.
Who’s Behind Redmond’s Public Art
The collection of public art found around Redmond is as stunning as the backdrop of the Southern Cascades. Selected by the Redmond Committee for Art in Public Places, a jury rotates the local art on an annual basis. Many pieces are sculptures depicting the rich history and ecological wonders of Central Oregon, while some are large murals or paintings that channel community through creativity.
Whether you’re entering Redmond Downtown via the 6th Street Arch or driving by Air Traffic Control, there’s so much to see. Expect to see refurbished metals taking on the shape of majestic animals or deeply surreal interpretations of Redmond’s industrial history.
At the end of each gallery season, the greater Redmond community votes on the People’s Choice Award for the most revered piece of public art within city limits. This rotation creates an ever-changing horizon in a public art gallery the whole family can enjoy.
